A. Zachary Faison, 澳门开奖历史记录鈥檚 general counsel and vice president for external affairs, is among this year鈥檚 Class of 2017 prot茅g茅s for the Millennium Leadership Initiative Institute. The institute is co-sponsored by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities.

Participants in this national leadership development program are nominated by a current university president or chancellor. Selection is highly competitive and MLI prot茅g茅s are selected based upon their demonstrated leadership experience relevant to their potential to advance to the post of president or chancellor in a higher education setting.

MLI prepares prospective higher education leaders to be competitive in their future pursuits of advanced leadership positions at public or private colleges and universities. It also helps these current and aspiring professionals who traditionally are underrepresented at these leadership levels develop skills, gain a philosophical overview and build the network needed to advance significantly in their careers.

Following his attendance at the MLI鈥檚 on-site program in June, Faison and his fellow MLI prot茅g茅s are participating in a year-long fellowship, which features a mentoring component that directly pairs prot茅g茅s with a currently sitting university president or chancellor. Prot茅g茅s also complete a 鈥渃ollege value鈥 project that helps address the reputational issues regarding the value of higher education.

鈥淭he opportunity to participate and engage with such an accomplished cadre of senior higher education leaders from throughout the country is truly a new hallmark in my higher education career,鈥 Faison said. 鈥淒uring my continued participation in the program, I look forward with great anticipation to cultivating new professional relationships and enhancing my leadership acumen and capacity for Tuskegee鈥檚 benefit.鈥

MLI was established 18 years ago by AASCU鈥檚 African-American presidents to ensure that the next generation of leaders in higher education reflects the diversity of our nation. The program identifies African-American, Hispanic, Latino, Asian and Pacific Islanders in senior-level positions who are interested in career advancement and helps them achieve that goal.
