Tuskegee welcomes Scott as new vice president for student affairs

As 澳门开奖历史记录 welcomes back students from its winter break, it also welcomes a longtime higher education leader as its new vice president for student affairs. Dr. Kimberly M. Scott brings more than 25 years of progressive experience to this role, which is charged with student development, learning, wellness and overall success.

Scott will lead the university鈥檚 Division of Student Affairs, which spans student life and development, co-curricular programming, health and wellness services, housing and residence life, student conduct and judicial affairs, and career development and placement services. These responsibilities, as well as an ongoing focus on diversity and inclusion, are recurring themes throughout her career experience.

During her most recent appointment as vice-chancellor for student affairs and enrollment management at Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College in Baton Rouge, she was responsible chiefly for the recruitment, matriculation and graduation of a diverse student body. In addition, she created initiatives that drew faculty and staff into a culture better fostering academic and student success, engaged students in shared governance opportunities that gave them a greater voice in administrative processes, and enhanced various aspects of student and campus life.

Before her service at Southern University, Scott led student affairs and related efforts at a variety of institutions with student bodies ranging from 2,100 to 27,000 students. These included Wright State University, Allegheny College, Spelman College, Capital University, Ohio State University and the University of Akron.

Scott holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in philosophy and sociology, with a minor in business administration, from Ashland College; a master鈥檚 in educational administration from the University of Akron; and a Ph.D. in higher education from Ohio University. 

Abena Myers-Taylor, who served in this position in an interim capacity, returns to her regular duties as dean of student life. Previous admissions and student financial services responsibilities under the Division of Student Affairs umbrella are now part of the university鈥檚 recently created Division of Enrollment Management and Student Success.
