Have you ever thought about swapping out your cocoa powder for raw cacao? If so, that’s great. Recipes with raw cacao are super healthy and I have the perfect one that I would like to introduce to you. But before that, I want to explain the benefits you are getting for switching to a more plant-based alternative. It is called raw cacao.
The difference between raw cacao and cocoa powder.
I’m pretty sure that you’ve already heard of the importance stop eating cocoa powder. But no one ever told you about the exact reasons behind that. Both are the same bean, grown from the same plant. However, the way that they are broken down is what sets them entirely apart. Cocoa powder is made by drying, roasting, and grinding the beans once removed from the tree stem. Once this process is done, sugar is added, and the other method of making the cocoa powder begins. Raw cacao powder is made by cold pressing the beans once it’s removed so, therefore, preserving the majority of the health benefits that come from the beans.
I hear you, maybe we wondering; “if it’s the same bean from the same plant, aren’t benefits the same?” And the answer is no. Once you introduce sugar to the equation, all those healthy benefits jump off the window.
So don’t miss them, look at how many health benefits raw cacao has:
- Filled with antioxidant
- Helps with stress levels
- reduce inflammation
- Improve cholesterol levels
- Regulate blood pressure
- May help with diabetes control
- May help with immune regulation
- Great replacement for coffee
- Perfect for your skin
- and much more.
So now I’m sure you will agree that recipes with raw cacao will be a better option than those with cocoa powder.

Yes, it will give you excess weight gain and diabetes if you over-consume, but in reality, sugars doing much more than that to your body and mine.
