Let’s prepare a healthy plant-based BBQ recipe for Memorial Day!

With important days lined up, it’s time for us to plan the menu well in advance. Yes, I am talking about the two important days coming up. First, Memorial Day is the perfect day to get started with barbeque. Next, we have International Day To Take Action For Women’s Health. Considering both these important days, we thought it was a good time to encourage you to prepare more vegetable-based barbecues.

Why do we need to opt for a vegan BBQ recipe? This is the question we will be answering in today’s article.

Vegan BBQ recipe vs. meat BBQ

As you know from SCK we want to promote the vegan Memorial Day barbecue simply because of the harmful effects meat has on our bodies. Meat can cause potentially more damage to the body of a woman than that of a man. Too much meat consumption can lead us to a whole range of health illnesses, which are difficult to treat. That is precisely why it is advisable to cut off meat consumption.

Avoid cardiovascular diseases

Excessive meat consumption links to inflammation in the body, which eventually results in lifestyle ailments. A  stark increase in cardiovascular diseases has been noted in women who consume meat frequently. Processed meat is just as harmful to our bodies as asbestos and cigarettes are. Meat is an underlying cause of so many illnesses, but despite that, we fail to acknowledge or attribute our health problems to meat. Women who ate 1.5 servings of red meat daily had a 22% greater risk of developing breast cancer.

Meat also causes blockages in blood vessels, which, if left untreated, can result in serious strokes. The clogged arteries lead to the accumulation of harmful cholesterol in the body. Meat also happens to be one of the well-established causes of diabetes in women. Processed meat, in particular, was known to increase the risk of type 2 diabetes. This diabetes then leads to debilitating health problems such as kidney failure, blindness, and even heart attacks.

Other diseases you can avoid by chossing vegan BBQ options over meat

Processed meat contains carcinogens, which increases the average risk of cancer by almost 18%. The reason is simple – meat does not have essential fibers and other nutrients that offer protection against cancer. Instead, it contains carcinogens and even hormones, both of which are enough to mess with our systems.

Meat also contributes to weight gain, just as much sugar does. The surplus energy our body derives from meat is stored in the form of fat, leading to weight gain. If not coupled with ample exercise, consuming meat irrationally will most definitely be one of the main reasons for obesity.

With so many reasons to eliminate meat, it’s time we turn to the plant-based way of living. With lots of veggies in our diet, we can get rid of half the illnesses that worry us. We are sure we will all ring in a healthy Memorial weekend with a vegan BBQ!
