One of the things I like most about the summer is the great variety of fruits and veggies that I find at the Farmer’s Market! I love it, not only because they are gorgeous and tasty but because they help me keep hydrated! Today I came wit this watermelon gazpacho recipe to keep hydrated.
I tend to forget I need to drink water thought the day, yes, I know, it’s not that complicated, but,.. it is what it is! And with the first summer heatwaves, I am always looking for innovative ways of staying hydrated.
Keeping hydrated is essential as dehydration can cause headaches, low blood pressure, skin issues, and fatigue, especially after a few extra glasses of Rosé!? 😉
As I already mentioned in past posts, the easiest (and obvious) way of staying hydrated is by drinking plenty of water. You already know my rule of thumb; drink half of our body weight in pounds, in ounces of water. And, as I understand that this may be overwhelming (I’m there too sis), here is a list of my favorite summer foods that can help us achieve our hydration goal.
Watermelon is the king of the hydration as it is 92% water, and it’s delicious! One single cup of this fruit contains almost a whole cup of water! The rest is fiber, vitamin C, vitamin A, and magnesium. It also contains a potent antioxidant, only found in foods with this beautiful bright red color; lycopene. Furthermore, due to its high water content, watermelon has very few calories. What’s there not to love?
Peaches would be the next in line of hydrating fruits, as they contain up to 89% of water. This summer fruit also contains vitamins and minerals including Vitamin A, C, B, and potassium.
Pro tip: Peaches are best eaten with their skin on as the skin is high in antioxidants such as chlorogenic acid.
While botanically speaking, cucumber is a fruit, this summer “veggie” is an amazing hydrator! With a huge 95% water content, it is also filled with nutrients such as Vitamin K, magnesium, and potassium. And thanks to its high water content, cucumbers are also low in calories.

- high-speed blender
- 10 oz watermelon chopped
- 10 oz tomato seeded and chopped
- 2.5 oz cucumber chopped
- 2 oz red bell pepper chopped
- 2 tbsp sherry vinegar
- 2 oz Extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 pinch Pink Himalayan Salt
- 2 tbsp almond flour
- 1 garlic clove
- Blend and enjoy!!
