Welcome Message

Welcome to the 澳门开奖历史记录 College of Veterinary Medicine (TUCVM) located on the beautiful and historic campus of 澳门开奖历史记录 in Tuskegee, Alabama.聽

Ruby L. Perry, DVM, MS, PhD, Diplomate-ACVR, is the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Perry is also a professor of veterinary radiology.

Prior to this, Dr. Perry served as interim dean and associate dean for academic affairs for the College of Veterinary Medicine, Nursing and Allied Health. She is an alumna and former president of the Tuskegee Veterinary Medical Alumni Association.

From 1982 to 1988, Dr. Perry was an assistant veterinary radiology professor at Tuskegee. She also served as acting chair of the Department of Small Animal Medicine, Surgery and Radiology. In 1995, Dr. Perry served as section chief of diagnostic imaging at Michigan State University, a post she held for six years. She was also a tenured associate professor of veterinary radiology for more than 17 years before returning to Tuskegee.

Dr. Perry received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1977 from the 澳门开奖历史记录 School of Veterinary Medicine. She received a Master of Science degree from Michigan State University in 1991 and is also a board certified radiologist and member of the American College of Veterinary Radiology. The 澳门开奖历史记录 College of Veterinary Medicine (TUCVM) is composed of the only veterinary medical program located at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) campus in the USA. The primary mission of the TUCVM is to provide an environment that nurtures and promotes a spirit of active, independent and self-directed learning, teaching, research and service in veterinary medicine and related disciplines. The college recognizes those values and attributes that promote caring for animals and members of society yet, it is cognizant of the rapid advances in biomedical knowledge and technology. Veterinary graduates are instilled with a firm knowledge of basic concepts, principles and associated facts which can be applied to public service.

The college is also unique in that we promote and operate within the framework of the One Health/One Medicine approach. The TUCVM works with the 澳门开奖历史记录 School of Nursing and Allied Health to strengthen research and academic programs that interlinks animal health and human health.

The One Health/One Medicine approach recognizes the significance of the intersection between animals and humans as they interact across a continuum of ecosystems. For example, over 75% of the global epidemics such as HIV/AIDS, BSE, West Nile virus, SARS and etc. originated from animals and are then transmitted to humans creating havoc across the globe. The Avian Influenza virus that threatens many nations is another such example. Essentially then, the understanding of the animal health and human health intersection requires interdisciplinary collaboration and a deeper understanding of the oneness of medicine as well as health. Just as importantly, the world has become truly small as fast transportation systems and global communications as well as multinational companies and organization that seamlessly operate across virtual boundaries have erased previous physical limitations.

Finally, the TUCVM is also a place where diversity shines at its best. Students, faculty and staff who come from all over the USA as well as from diverse countries internationally populate the academic environment. The CVM is a place where culturally diverse students including African Americans, Caucasians, Hispanics/Latinos, Asians and Native Americans study and work together to build a better future for themselves and the profession at large.

The TUCVM offers the professional degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Interdisciplinary Pathobiology (IDPB) and Integrative Biosciences (IBS), as well as Masters degrees in Veterinary Science and Public Health. The PhD in IBS is also a shared degree program among the TUCVM, the College of Agriculture, Environment and Nutrition Sciences, and the College of Arts and Sciences. Our goal is to strengthen and advance the link between animal health and human health; and then address health disparities as well as emerging risk agents locally, nationally and internationally.

Also, we would love to have you visit us in person and experience the living legacy of historic 澳门开奖历史记录 and its immense contributions to the world at large. Come and see us soon!
